Historical Semantics is being developed by the research project Historical Semantics Corpus Management (Jussen et al., 2007). The system aims at a texttechnological representation and quantitative analysis of chronologically layered corpora. Its background is a notion of semantics which relies on corpus analyses of diachronic corpora. These corpora are analyzed to explore semantic change as an access point to the understanding of social change. The system supports this kind of corpus-based historical semantics.
